Break Through the Sorrow

It's tough to be strong
when you feel beaten down
Takes a piece of you with
Every time, every round

Each time you get up from the previous fall
Quick like a fox!
Crash! Down comes a wall
Pinning you to sorrow, taking it's share
Pecking at your bones
Leaving only despair

Why? Oh why?
Must it always be me?
Picking up the pieces
You look up and plea
"I'm a good person"
"My conscience is clear"
"I don't understand"
You want someone, to hear

Always on egg shells
just waiting to crack
you're so tired, this sorrow
Like a knife in your back
Sometimes you can grasp at
the good times, that tell
you appreciate the break
from living in Hell

Take each day as it's own
Arise and declare;
"Today will be a good day"
The sorrow, you dare
"I choose to be wiser"
"Throw me your best"
Learn the lessons it teaches
and discard the rest

For that break, when it comes
Will strengthen your sight
your thoughts for the future,
can change to be bright
In a moment, the clarity
A break from the sorrow
Could come anytime,
It could be tomorrow
