Break the Waves

Break the waves! Break them!
I beg you! Please, do this for me.
Just this once!
			I cannot wish any louder
			I cannot crave any stronger

I can only say this much
not in bold words or needy cries
but in whispers.
		
It’s been too long!
Too long…

Can’t you hear them?
Can’t you see them?
Flocking around you?
Not to claim you or to own you.
Only to serve .
My feelings.

			I cannot wish any louder
			I cannot crave any stronger

Please, just this once
Break the waves!
Only this once!
And I promise I’ll turn this light off, 
and seek no more.
No more, no more.
Standing on this windy edge
I send out misty thoughts, 
to come fetch you.
				
But it’s been too long!
  Too long…
And I can only do so much.
