Break

The window is dark
silouhettes slighlty leaning to the side

The window is dark
squinting and leaning toward the pane

Is anyone there
Just a few feet apart
Behind this transparent divide
Is there a face
A heart
Beat

Or just glass
Reflecting back

How going forward
Is walking away

Can the relflection act out
a story in the scenery of this
changing climate
this density
drowning in color
fading to black

It's just glass
Break
In case of emergency
Break
This urgency

Silenced
in the shadow of the silhouette
left to ponder
peering right in
and back out
at each empty space left
that no one dares to enter
for fear of breaking the glass

Fear both destroys and protects. I enjoyed this piece.
