Bread

BREAD

God gave the bird a crumb of bread,
But gave a loaf to me,
So no more would I hunger,
I'd be fed for eternity.

Although I had my daily bread,
Earthly bread was all I knew,
Then the bread from Heaven came,
To give me life anew.

Jesus is this Bread of Life
To receive and be made whole.
He doesn't give me just a crumb,
To satisfy my soul.

To eat of this Bread of Life,
Is to live forever, said He.
You gave the bird a crumb Lord,
But you gave a whole loaf to me.

This was written after reading Emily Dickinson's poem,
God gave a loaf to every bird,
But just a crumb to me.

Thanks for comment Daniel. Sorry for the late reply. Broke leg and hip and just out of hospital after a seven week stay. Slow recovery, and mind has poetry block. Blessings, Vivien
