Notes About The Poem
Craig Cornish's A Wilderness Of Mirrors Contest...28 Apr 25

Brambles Of Thought

Framed moments zoom, a night of review
as vignettes glide on frazzled woodland
of her mindscape like leaves brushed
 in violet before moonlight’s pause.

Every motion, every image bursts
   into tints of life- stages...
Embers within her flash: a peachy tot
screaming for jelly ; eighth birthday flops,
     escaping from the party clown—

How the mirrors of light enter the marrow
and gracefully recite the stories and poems
from parental death, aborted friendships
to love’s waning kiln. The hum inside her
becomes quiet, awake and fearless...
she inhales dusky breath when musings
fall like twigs and brambles on her bosom.

Yet, the air’s chill hugs her shadow,
moistening her thoughts,
eyes reflecting time's montage...
    glassy though amiably refreshed.

Dear Nette, what a beautifully reflective poem—reading it felt like stepping into a dreamscape of memory. The images are vivid, intimate, and hauntingly tender. I really felt that quiet courage in the face of time’s sweep. Good luck in the contest...Hugs

Nette, you compress time as some of us actually experience it in thought. It's very important to reflect on the things one experiences in life, and you present it very artistically. Smiles and hoping we get more time to enjoy this great life. Take care.
