Addiction

He sits together with a friend Or is this the enemy? Will he pretend? He talks about the pills they’ve tried Bringing the high… That fills them with pride, Now they know all the answers It feels like they have a solution Someone down the street says “NO” The answers aren’t found in the high They’re bound up in the outflow That are sent to heaven’s throne The answers found in who they know The Prince of peace, king of kings His one and only Son - Jesus He stares upward toward the sky The answers aren’t ever there He’s wondering where and why On lips that know not where Lips that are cursing and lying The enemy’s pain and deceit They sound like they’re amplifying The way the world tends to cheat Someone down the street says “NO” The answers aren’t found in the high They’re bound up in the outflow That are sent to heaven’s throne The answers found in who they know The Prince of peace, king of kings His one and only Son - Jesus He listens to his friend take a breath And stares at his empty bottle If it weren’t for all the brain death Would he be so lost amid the squabble If it weren’t for the pain he feels Would he yearn for just one more pill? The pills make all their best appeals Now, the road is all downhill Someone down the street says “NO” The answers aren’t found in the high They’re bound up in the outflow That are sent to heaven’s throne The answers found in who they know The Prince of peace, king of kings His one and only Son - Jesus Finally, he listens to the sound of the voice Telling him that all he is doing isn’t right He bows his head to pray for another choice And the chance to move toward the light He has the chance to start life over With his sins forgiven at the site Where the cross was carried by Jahovah! Jesus is the answer to all that brings delight.

Addictions are diseases that are real and kill people. That's horrible. If someone overloaded us on some drug, It's Christ the last thing we'd want. I have some experience in working with addicts both booze and pills. Some get well through Christ. Some in 12 step programs. It's people who are not addicts that scare me more. Loaded with self righteousness. There is war looming, Murder, etc. we can ask God to help the lost..and us..great poem. Pangiota
