Braille Eyes
You see with your hands,
you think with an intuitive cane
taping before your feet
Trusting your dim instincts,
to lead you along the right path
Emotional blindness
is your spiritual infirmity
You step on
other people feelings unintentionally
Wandering about with your best friend,
your loyal, seeing-eye dog guide
Friendly sniffs
drawn to sympathetic eyes
Someone who has yet to be trampled by you,
plainly see the pain of your limitations
Subtily they can feel
the dark manifestations of your frustrations
Braille eyes,
feeling nothing you can’t truly see
Finger taught lies,
around your neck you carry a skeleton key
Bumping around through life,
smashing the pottery charms you made
Marred work created by your hand,
imprints in a veiled book you don’t comprehend
Darkness outside of the womb
is your carnal thinking
You can’t see the warning lights blinking
up ahead, just a ways down the road
Long held inner rage against God
for things you can only see opaquely
Milique toast commitment
makes the harshest demands
Braille eyes,
feeling only empty space within each word
Finger lies memorized,
it’s hard to believe truth rejected since birth
