Box of Socks
I searched the store with glee;
Going on a shopping spree
To find a gift for you from me
To place beneath the Christmas tree
The busy shoppers I did pass;
What should I get? I had to ask
So many things for me to buy
In frustration I gave a sigh
Should it be practical or should it be fun?
Should it be pretty; will I ever get done?
I racked my brain; thought…this is hard!
Maybe I should just get a gift card
I searched and searched
and searched some more
Almost walked right out the door
I couldn’t make up my mind you see
A tough decision it would be
Should I buy for a girl or a boy
Maybe I could tuck it inside a toy
No, that’s not right, but then I thought
Something for both; that’s what I’d do
I’d pick out something good for two
And so I thought two gifts instead of one
Boy this is going to be fun
I’d made the plan, the plan was done
His and Hers is what it would be
Christmas unmentionables under the tree
Oh how funny it would be
But what size to buy
I hadn’t a clue
Oh no; this just would not do
I had to go; my time was gone
This was taking way too long
So I decided once and for all
To save myself a trip to the mall
Hope I’ve sparked your curiosity
Dr. Seuss would be proud of me
For wrapped within this gift of mine
A poem for you at Christmas-time
Holds a clue; what will it be?
Open it up and you will see
In this time of hard knocks
The perfect gift a box of socks
