Bonds and Trust
When the sun goes down and we ask why
the night closes in dark upon those who survive
see the stars are just sparklings in the sky
and that's when all the realities become alive.
Life's aches and pains seem miniscule
as life slips out of reach
and every lesson learned exudes
the mere interlude to the tears that teach.
How can we ever measure
what a life might mean to us
unless we love and treasure
the given shared bonds and trust?
We live, we die
and in all the in betweens
we laugh, we cry
recognizing at last, what a life means.
Hold tight the wire of living's tightrope
those bonds two individuals may share
remembering sweet memories of their dreams and hope
their love, their bonds, the knowing their hearts are ever here.
for my nephew, Chris gone too soon. 5/1/20
