Blueberries and Apples
Lately I've been craving fruit
the red kind
that strikes right through the core,
but blueberries don't attract apples
they're born in a bunch
never fully whole
besides it's impossible to eat just one
Not like a cortland with firm skin
where your entirely pleased
with only it's nutrients
and the sweet aftertaste
of what's bound to linger on
But even tangerines know
nothing could possibly
fill this avid belly
until I become an apple
in my own eyes,
perfectly eatable
wholly satisfied
