Blue Number 9

The ceiling fan hums a teal tune
Like a night flower of blue I bloom
Blue like truth fools limit my shine
Blue for being black not always kind
Blue like the ocean making love to brown sand
Blue like the moon missing the sun her man
Blue like the bird who is forced to sing alone
Blue like the ink in my pen as I write this poem
Blue also brings a special kind of praise
For sky is blue and of rainbow’s faith
