Blue Collar Blues

I just got my paycheck, when my workday was through, saw how much was left after taxes, I got the blue collar blues… Maybe one day I'll go to college, and get a white collar degree, but by then I'll be too old, to even go on a spending spree, so I guess I'll have to make due with my warehouse job for now, at least I don't have to drive far, or work late at night too, I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of having a white collar and making more dollars, versus having a blue collar and not bothering… guess at my age I should just be glad I have a job, even though when I look at my paycheck, I feel like I've been robbed!

Well said, at times it can feel like paddling a canoe against the current. A lot of work to get nowhere. Thanks for visiting my poem.

Cheryl, your poem tells the truth. I like the catchy title of "Blue Collar Blues." Before I retired a few years ago, I also felt my paycheck was being squeezed to death. Matter-of-fact, it still is being squeezed. At least now, I can sleep later. ~ Sonia

Hi Sonia, I get to retire with full benefits in about 8 more years…just hope social security will still be here! Sorry to hear that even your retirement check is being squeezed to death! That is why my poor Mom has to rent out her converted garage/apt. up in NY or she wouldn't make ends meet up there…thats why I don't live up there anymore!God Bless, Cheryl PS The standard of living is cheaper here in the south thank God….at least for now...
