Blue Berries

Blue berries on the vine. Gift of Nature. Unrefined fresh fruit, unwashed, eaten just so. Option to blend special treats – muffins, smoothies, cobblers, and pies. Scrumptious splendor, sweet summer surprise.

Suddenly, I remember, my grandparents had blueberries, blackberries, peaches, plumbs, grapes, strawberries in their backyard, and my grandmother made tons of jelly. They were on what was then the outskirts of LA. That backyard is now a 6-bedroom condo. They also had lemons, avocados, tangerines, and walnuts that you could pick up and eat off the ground. It was a paradise!

Awesomeness Dave! The only attraction CA held for me is the climate. The sun is too intense in TX for many flora. Your grans' yard (not the condos) does sound like paradise! :)

Yum. ;) I like most berries. Wild mulberry (they look like blackberries) bushes grow around the property too. I make jam or cobblers from them. Some advantages exist in rural life! LOL! :)

Oh, how true! I've been using them in oatmeal, cobblers, pies, scones, and parfaits.

Do you have bushes David? I have four that provide many luscious berries. They don't last long round my house. ;)

Yes, fat and all - very unhealthy, very tasty. :) Clotted cream is not so difficult to make, but does take some time. :)

Blueberries must be at peak ripeness by now. It is one fruit that can be found by smell. I like this end of summer message and the recipe possibilities. It's time to bake.
