Blown Away

BLOWN AWAY By Roy Merritt Sometimes when out of doors and under the whirling sway I wish the rising wind would up and blow me away Blow me to some distant shore or distant place in time Allow me some relief from this life I'm in I find I would be a whole other one free from the troubling strife Free from the enormity of having to live my life Free from worrying of others free from their clinging need Free from compromise and all that one concedes For what is a greater punishment than having to be just you What worse upon your person what more could you go through For are you not an affront to your kith and kin A judgment from long ago when you did but first begin Life is a depressing thing, a thing I would not advise A thing you surely will in your time come to despise But I know for certain should the wind sure blow me away And I'd land in that distant place no more here to stay That I'd naught but have regret and soon wish it to flee The new person I've become the new person that be me For if life has taught us anything, anything we should abide No man has walked this Earth and ever been satisfied

Very true. If I'm not me would I like the new me any better. Great insight. Beverly

Thank you Beverly for this estimation of this poem I composed upon a time when I was feeling particularly challenged by a domestic circumstance.
