Blowing In the Wind

An ancient wise man
Once wagered a bet,
That he could capture the wind,
In a butterfly net.

"And thus having done,"
Bragged the wizened, old sage,
"I shall lock that wild bird
In a golden, mesh cage."

So he fashioned a cage,
And he laid it with gold.
Then set out, with his net,
On his mission so bold.

Unseen, came the wild wind,
On that cloudless, March day.
It blew the net, and the cage,
And the old man away.
