Blood Deep

Blood Deep

a placidity of pain
softens lines in resignation
layers her beauty
like actors makeup
sadness dusted like powder
to finish her night face

during the day
living removes all
but those stains
too deep in her blood
held holy close
her smile never reaches her eyes.
