Blind
"From birth, when I opened my eyes
All I could see is a dark void
An open space thats endless
A world that was bare, my fresh canvas
At first it was hard getting by
Like the fact I'd never seen my mum
I just felt her and learnt her scent
And her steps when she'd walk towards me
Imagine crawling and missing a step
Or going over and still going on
Cause I needed to learn on my own
To get it right next time
Imagine savouring the taste of food
Enjoying it burst into flavour in the mouth
Loving every bite, in a sensual way
Cause your senses are heightened
When I was able to stand and walk
I was young but I has to use a cane
Learning to point at things hoping that they move
So that I could have an easy time getting round
The first day in class when my hands touched braille
I was overjoyed that I'd get to read
Cause previously my mum was my eyes
But now I had the world at my palms
I might not know what the sunset looks like
But I sure know how it feels like
Cause my skin changes with any change around me
And I need only feel, and that's why I understand nature more than man
For trees speak to me when I move
Birds sing to me when I stroll
And everything on my path vibrates
To let me know where they are
