Blessing In Disguise

When I was young and full of dreams Of goals and great success My pathway laid, my visions set I was nervous nonetheless. I had an inner confidence Of the things I wished to do And so I tried as best I could To make my Dreams come true. My best laid plans got in the way And I somehow failed to see That my dream was just a dream Cause life had other plans for me. Yes I went down a different road As my circumstances changed My boyhood dreams were now all gone Things were rearranged. With Good Advice, which I never got My plan may have succeeded But nothing ever happened Cause I didn’t get what I needed. But things happen for a reason It was a blessing in disguise I enlisted in the Air Force Which turned out was very wise. It really was a great career The best decision of my life Saw a lot of different places And met my lovely wife. I’m Retired now and life’s been grand Things are really good I wouldn’t change a single thing Not even if I could.

It's a shame those childhood dreams didn't manifest sooner, Ralph, but Joining the Air Force seems to have left you in a good place in life. Looking back, it's nice to know you have no regrets. That must be very comforting, Ralph. Very nice description of the influences that shaped you into the fine man you are today. Love, Carolyn
