Blanket
Blanket
A blanket of rain
Snuffs out the licking fire
Leaving an ashen trail
And smoke coiling
Up in the air.
A blanket of night
Shows a little ember
Shaking its way through
The remaining warmth.
A blanket of stars
To cheer its effort
The tiny light stoked
Up by the wind.
Through the blanket
Of ashes, the tiny fire waking up
Into a phoenix, it flies.
