Blank Paper

I took a pen and piece of paper Looked at the blank page before my eyes Thoughts came in hurried nano seconds Nothing captured or captivated the mind The pen twirled in my fingers Round and round like a spinning top Words and images passed in fleeting fragments Yet nothing concrete formed within The page remained blank I stared off into space Space did not give inspiration Words seemed beyond my reach I began to doddle and rhyme words Maybe this might give me hope It became more like a game Rhyming as many words as I could Writing was not going as planned My paper filled with scrambled words I put it away in my collection Only to pull it out as fast as I put it away 05/07/15

Ahhh the pitfalls of a poet Barbara. You never know when inspiration will hit and you have to carry a pen or pencil with you at all times. I write some of my poetry at stop lights in my car. LOL. I enjoyed this and can relate. Hugs, Connie

Hi Barbara: A beautiful poem to which I can relate. My mind atrophies at one point then all of a sudden I write 3 poems. And I only get one N/A in a contest. haha

Since the age of 12 Phyllis, I have not had the pleasure of thinking before I write. The word's form within my dome and store for future use. When the word's over stuff in my brain, they start to drip out and my digit's lift pen and find new storage space for the raining word's; invented books. Or, maybe I never took the time to think up poetry, hm. I struggle terribly with math though dear poet ! *smiles* Have a wonderful week......much love, james

Sometimes writing just does not come. Guess that is why we have lots of pieces of paper around. love phyl

A perfectly penned piece on the struggles of trying to resuscitate our muse. When I am struggling I try to come up with one line. It doesn't have to be the first and try to work off of that.

Don't give up, Phyllis! Try googling "poetry prompts". There are all kind of sites out there that have ideas to spark your creativity. This is a good start. At least you were able to put into words the struggle you are having. Love, Kim
