Black Tar Addiction
As the beating sun mistakenly masks a pale city red
Cigarettes burn silhouettes into the sidewalk of another beating heart
Beautiful mistakes fade behind waves of forgiveness
From children telling breezy seasons to mask unsuspecting eyes
Inside a mother’s breathing belly, infants painfully scream deadly poison
And drying numbness fills the air as intimate closeness fades
Living through winters fallen ice cycles breaking apart faith
Leaves frail hope pushing beyond a common bond of love
And death from life emerges suffocating air within the lungs
Releasing pain smothered in addiction of black tar in your heart
