Black Neck Tie

I fear your grip about my neck
Leading me into the dark
Rooms filled with empty cries
Out piercing my illusion
Worn carefully to hide
Far from the searching eyes
Judging every move and thought
Moving through perceptions
Seen through the foggy wetness
Over the faces of the gathered
In the hallway up the stairs
Climbed and descending
Within myself rhetorically
Mirrored tightened and clipped
Steadfast and neat to my shirt
Pulled up over my distorting face
Away from the box
In on every side no route of escape
Free of the moment
Winding faster and standing
Statuesque and apprehensive
About putting you on again
I face my mortality’s grip
Around my neck in silk
Black and neatly clipped
