This new Black Moon near Hallowe’en Marks the darkest night we have seen. A time to carve a pumpkin head To make a lantern for the dead. Bonfires lit burn bright tonight, At gravesites we'll leave candle light To honor spirits of our dead. We'll go door-to-door to be fed. Should they deign to turn us away, A scary Samhain trick we'll play. But little kids that ask for treats Will have their baggies filled with sweets. Frightful costumes will scare away The evil spirits who might prey. Witches known to tempest the sky Along with large bats flying high, Are privy to an instant spell Summoned up from the mouth of hell. Trick-or-treaters please be aware Of evil forces everywhere. If you're lost in Sleepy Hollow, Please don't expect that I will follow. I'll let my black cat out to roam, But I'll stay warm and safe at home! © Connie Marcum Wong *Black moon The term black moon refers to an additional new moon that appears in a month or in a season. It may also refer to the absence of a full moon or of a new moon in a month. One use of the term is for the occurrence of a second new moon in a calendar month. This is analogous to the by-month definition of a blue moon as the second full moon in a month. February is too short for a second new moon to occur. This event occurs about every 29 months. Last Black Moon until 2019 to rise over Eastern Hemisphere on Halloween weekend

Spooky and bizarre. That black moon brings the graveyard to light. Hope you are doing well. Love, Dave

I only had two this year. When the said "Trick or treat" I replied "Treat". They were flummoxed. Great poem. You know the song Bad Moon Rising?

Great, now I'm all scared and sitting here all alone on Nov. 3. Only had eight children in total knock at my door. I was ready for 100. I have a lot of treats left. I don't eat sweets. Someone will want them I'm sure. Love this poem Connie. Great write. Lots Of Love to you and your family my dear friend.

My husband did the same thing LOL. I need to get rid of this candy so I don't need it. We didn't have our granddaughter to take out trick-or-treating this year so we just turned out the lights only a few children showed up last year anyway so it wasn't worth it to run up and down the stairs. Thank you for the nice reply that made me smile Armand. ; )

A lovely Halloween poem Mrs Connie. Since the kids are all grown up now. I do not celebrate Halloween anymore. I turn out the lights and watch TV.

Yes, I believe there are three days when they are honored. My son was born on November 1st. and My youngest daughter was born November 5th a big day in England. I am familiar with both. Thank you Victor. My best to you, Connie : )
