Black is like poetry… it is made up of much more than words – quote by poet
Black is the backdrop
For shimmering starlight
Fireflies winking in the night
Moon glow sparkling high in the sky
Drifting on invisible cords
Held up by angel’s strong arms
Awaiting the moment they should fall
Black is the handsome border
For beautiful feathers on birds
For vibrant wings of butterflies
For the color in our poetic verse
Black is the color worn in grief
Reminding that death
Comes like a dreaded thief
To take away from our lives
The joy, hope and delight
Leaving only the pain and sorrow
To face the misery of the morrow
Black lives inside the shadow
Shading thoughts from the light
Which warms and brightens
Soothes the gloomy darkness
With a penetrating easy comfort
Sent down from the heavens
To fill our spirits with serenity
Black lingers on the soul
Of those who give in to loathing
Commit crimes against love
With fears and tears and years
Of shady sins that apprehend
The hearts joy and grace
Black is the color of loss
The hue meant to disgust
But even with its bad name
It can fascinate and compel us
To write poetry of its fame
Black, I say, never fade to gray
But always stay away when I pray
