Black Eyed Murder In the Field
A seamless sky, black eyed murder in the field
A sudden raptor flight, the murder yields
A scape of snow on vast hills afar
A bracing hold on life still and stark
The big fields crawl then climb up the hills
Snow-capped forever greens feel the chills
The window captures its own moving art
A picture frame of real life, of living art
A sudden stop! An ancient post
An iron fence above the moat
A brick formed mansion, dark windows loom
Shadows stare right back through snowy gloom
Roof slate amiss shows unordered line
Snow flakes gently fall to ease the eyes
Jolt, screech, in motion again
The mansion speaks to me; don't come back again!
The view from front to back I see from my seat
I rub my eyes again and stare indeed
For as the train moves faster past the house
I see the shadows follow my stare through the house
I look away but then I have to look back
A faceless old lady waves, she's dressed all in black.
