Black Cat Stare

Black Cat Stare Black cat, stare down your dark luring eyes A witch deformed in feline disguise Spy for the devil inform you do tell Vengeance to man, delivered from hell Curse the land the crops will all rot Show his signs in spittle black dots Ail the herds of cattle and sheep Muffle their sounds, silence their bleat Burn with fire the witch and the cat Break the devils evil dark pact Condemn them all in water to drown Protect ourselves from darkness abound Reborn good that lies all within Rid the devil cleanse free from his sin Offer the gods our harvest of gold Return black cats for good luck to hold Let a cat cross your path if you dare Just be wary if it holds you that stare. 21.10.20

Nicely penned Halloween poem, Emelia, great imagery. We used to have a black cat with the prettiest green eyes. She would stare at me but it didn't bother me. All the best. John

Thank you John, the eyes of cats are beautiful, the one I have now is quiet a starer and sometimes I try to out stare him but he always wins lol, Emilia : )

Did go a bit darker with this one, cats are lovely but I do respect not everyone can like or connect with them. Thank you for reading Anne-Lise and for taking the time to comment, Emilia : )

The imagery is quite deep and dark, I find black cats to be friendly but I know others can be superstitious about them:-) good luck in the contest:-) hugs jan xx

In some parts of the world it is illegal to purchase a black cat on Halloween day, the stores won't sell them out for fear that they will be abused. I can understand their reservation, we have been so cruel to animals in the past, I think they are beautiful and full of mystique. Thank you for sharing your deep poem. be well.

Is very sad in this day and age that some still see these beautiful cats as a threat. In the back ages they did burn cats along with the accused. Horrific even to think about : ( Emilia

Thank you Tom, it was much darker originally but I toned it down quiet a bit and omitted some stanzas. I see black cats as lucky too, had one years back, he was such a gentle giant. Hope you are well, Emilia : ) xx
