Black Americans, Listen Up

Black Americans, Listen Up!

The morning after, November 6, 2024
Many are deeply hurt to the core
Don’t allow a result to spoil your joy
The Devil will always destroy

The normal emotion is disgust
Don’t lick your wounds, simply adjust
As we reside in our captive land
Gather your thoughts and develop a plan

Talk about a divided country
Lift your head as you continue the journey
As a people, redirect your focus
Move strategically with a purpose

Don’t be angry and revengeful
That which will lead to being stressful
The early stages seems unrealistic
Whether the storm and stay optimistic

Common sense says the campaign was about racism
Which led us into a cycle of fascism
I know some of us are in our feelings
Don’t be the prey that’s rocking and reeling

The somber mood is emotional grief
Don’t linger in pity, make it brief
We have much work to do
Our vote was an expression of our view

Can’t stop, won’t stop, continue the struggle
Don’t be mislead into a kerfuffle
Brothers and Sisters stay encouraged
We all know what occurred

White privilege was on the menu
Good trouble will never be through
We will not succumb to weakness
Nor delve in an abyss of sadness

Many of us are wondering what’s next
Remembering to keep it in context
The key to our survival is respect
Think about the devastating effects

Chaos is coming and we are not exempt
Buckle up and make an attempt
It’s going to be a sustained confusion
Believe that it’s not just an illusion

They love our culture, but they don’t love us
Stay true to yourself and limit your trust
Some of our people sold their souls
Hand picked brothers and sisters parading as trolls

Take some time to recuperate from the loss
Our race will pay a heavy cost
You should feel grateful, knowing your vote was cast
Making your voice heard won’t be the last

Even though you may be feeling dread
Reorganize, keep it moving instead
Rejected, dejected and left in despair
God will not give us more than we can bear

Many of you are still shedding tears
Take comfort in the progress made over the years
God will order your steps in life
Don’t be dismayed with the strife

Don’t become consumed with agitation and agony
Start planning your next strategy
Being critical and judgemental is short term
It’s understandable that you are concerned

Lean on your inner most strength
To deal with the negative aftereffects
Convert your aching pain to power
Otherwise you will become bitter and sour

I understand that you’re upset
But don’t let this bump in the road make you sweat
God’s mercy and grace will fill your cup
Black Americans, Listen Up!!

Wonderful write! So much needed. I am not as surprised because USA was built by us but not FOR us. I would like to share this poem of course with your permission on Facebook. You see there a lady said she wanted to off herself due to the aftermath of the election! I quoted her biblical words of encouragement. But this is even better! Kudos
