Bittersweet... on the palate... the pill... an ex-soldier... struggles to swallow; pestering... regrets... fighting in.... a war... he wanted... no part of. But what choice had he? Fought, not believing in... war! A war he helped win! (Yalto) Date written: 02/23/2020 "Yalto" is a form invented by yours truly Line 1 to 15: 3,4,2,4,5,3,2,3,2,3,3,5,6,1,5 syllables.

Excellent write Edward. An interesting form too. What made you decide to call it "Yalto"? Just curious. I enjoyed reading this. Your wordplay is excellent, sad imagery but a powerful write nonetheless. Two thumbs up!

Thank you, Juanita:-) I'm SO glad you asked me this! Yvette, Andrea, Lance, Timothy and Otis are names of my favorite high school and college teachers. They were all instrumental in making me the successful man I am today. "Yalto" is my way of honoring them all!

Thank you, Vijay:-) Never mind the physical, I can't even begin to imagine the mental and emotional ravages of war. It's a huge part of the reason I chose to serve in the Navy instead of in the Army or Marines!
