Bitter Tears

Bitter tears

There is no one to hold me
While I am crying in the night
Lies and empty promises
Have clearly come in sight

I knew I should have stayed alone
It was safer there by far
The one I trusted with my soul
Was just a fallen star

So my life is over
And Never again shall I love
I pray to God with all my heart
I need help from up above

Please take my pain away
And please don’t let me hate
I gave him all the love I had
Now unhappiness my fate

He said some awful things to me
And I threw some “awful” too
But now we each have bitter tears
These words I speak so true

So I shall lay our love to rest
My most precious possession
And I will cry these bitter tears
The only sign of this confession

Time of course will heal us
Each separate and alone
But I will share with you this bitter fact…
It has turned my heart to stone.
