Bitter Sweet
Late at night when I’m alone in my bed.
A soft feather pillow under my head.
My mind goes drifting down memory street
when we were together and life was sweet.
We meet at a wedding, we dance all night.
Your face all aglow in the candle light.
Your holding my hand, then, after a while,
holding again as we walk down the aisle.
We stand at the altar making a vow.
‘Till death do us part’…..I’m heartbroken now.
For death did reach out and tore us apart
it took you away and plundered my heart.
So now I live here, on memory street,
where we are together and life is sweet.
