Bitter Rind of Sorrow

A bitter rind of sorrow encapsulates my heart:
it insulates; 
it separates.

Insensitive the laughing throng 
regurgitates their song,
unknowing and uncaring,
blindly shoving me along.

A bitter rind of sorrow encapsulates my heart.

The unfeeling crowd. And your "bitter rind of sorrow" allows you to go on. To mingle with the crowd. But they do not care about your loss, do they? But mingle, we must. I love your work.
