Bitter Reality

Avoids reflections Mirror no longer an ally She watches her youth pass by Her outlook is bleak Wants to hold on forever Blinded by a fantasy Endless youth she craves She plays the addicting game Of needles and lifts and tucks Grasping at nothing Chasing the impossible Inevitable defeat

Congrats on this Bitter Reality, Natalie....if the mirror is reflecting "merely" your soul, it would have a gorgeous reflection...the old adage is so true, beauty is only skin deep. ....BTW...on the family feud the other day a very depressing Q was posed to a contestant..at what age does a woman LOSE her sex appeal...SURVEY SAYS.........(are you ready to be depressed?).......40!!!!!!!! I hate that game. lololol. I am provin them wrong. Have a great weekend. Gwendolen

I really like this piece. It's thought-provoking, sad...and I'm sure every person out there can relate. Creates some strong visuals in the mind

Natalie, I just got it straight from the horse's mouth (so to speak), you have to do your sedoka ON the theme of Ancient Songs. Sorry, sweetie. I love this one. But it's not about ancient songs. (well unless you make the case that her body is ancient.hahaha). Lucky you, dating the jocks. I had to date the guys too old for high school since the high school guys were too unaware of my great charm to even ask me out. hahaha. But I sure had some COOL older guys going out with me when I was only 16 (I met them while clerking at 7.11!!)

Natalie I really like this. It seems that half of Soup are doing their sedokas about "ancient song" and the other half(like you) are doing them on their own topic. I think I misunderstand his rules. I want to be able to do it like yours , on whatever topic appeals to me. I hope he answers me and tells me what to do!

Profound and moving poetry. Thank you for sharing. I truly enjoyed your message in this piece and how the ending phrase captures the whole reflection.
