Birthday Wish

Today, the day of your birth,
my gift for you is a hopeful wish.
While you're not here upon this earth
you're being loved and taking care.

For it would be what I would do,
if only I was holding you.
The wish I give is meant to be
your birthday gift, for you, not me.

But if I could be so bold
and asked you please to share,
this gift, my wish, really is,
a wish that you were here.
