Birthday Introspective

When I look back at all the things
..That I have seen and done,
When I take stock, evaluate
..What I have lost and won,
When I recall my wanderings
..Through time and place and thought -
I feel I can with sureness state
..I've lived the life I ought.

Of course, there's many chances lost;
..Bad choices, one or two.
I've squandered opportunities;
..Mistakes - perhaps a few.
But happiness at half the cost -
..Why should I want for more?
Sereneness in simplicities
..Brings balance to my core.
