Birth of a Nova

Words escape her
Their meaning escapes me.
They flow
A waterfall of tumbling emotion.
I can't help but drown in.

They slip from between her lips
She tastes syllables
Some are to her liking while some
Make her face turn
In on itself.

I do the only thing she taught me
The only thing I know how.
Take
Take what she gives.

Use her words for my armor.
And her sadness as my sword.
I will be her warrior
Her champion.

I will hold back her river.
Until the storm passes.
Until she can look up at the rain,
And laugh.

Thank you so much Darren! I wrote this about my best friend when she finally let me in on her struggles and I was able to be there for her. Have a nice day!
