Birds of Prey

Birds of prey
With eagle eyes
Spot their prey
And down they dive

Talons lead
Wings spread
Clinical grab
Rabbit dead

Like winged royalty
These feathered kings
Majestic in flight
Superiority reigns

Buzzards, Falcons Hawks and Kites
In flight, my what a sight
Glide and float on thermal breeze
Like lookouts as they top the tree's

As they patrol their kingdoms skies
Terrain watching with their eyes
Movement in the undergrowth
Its natures wish, you pray for them both.

It is sad to see one animal die so that another can live. I like to see those fly high it is interesting to watch it seems so effortless however, I know that it is work. Won't be long before we will hear and see the Canadian geese in their v formatin flying south.. I love to see and hear them call to each other. Thanks for your comments on my work. Keep writing. Sara

Ilove the way you write James - you have a great way of describing events. Birds of Prey are my favourite and you have summed the way they soar and fly with ease. Lovely poem ........Janette

I like the line "Glide and float on thermal breeze" Makes me want to glide up there with all of those birds. God Bless you, Keep Writing, Lovingly, Dane

Those last two lines really bring the message home well, James. We should tend to the needs of all God's creatures. Love your poetry!
