Birds In My Tree

Cat birds nestled in my hemlock
There were only two, not a flock
Slightly obscured by the needles of the greens
Must want to be inconspicuous, it seems.

They were not singing which they often do
Sparrows and finches perching below, maybe a few,
Two cardinals on a branch sitting so close together
Have I seen that variety before? no not ever.
