Birds

If I had to put this into words
what I was thinking about the birds:

I'd say "I think they have it made"
existing in life
with anothers aid
The insects they dine on throughout their day
the water they drink
 when the sky is grey
and in the winter they fly away,
only to return on
any given spring day
When they're here
when the season is through
they'll be singing songs
for me and you
The sand and the sea beneath their wings
somewhere we've all lost, these precious things
so take sometime to think about
what society wants us to do without
Stop and smell the roses along the way
listen to the birds they've got a lot to say
