Bipolar Skies:

Leaves of green Don't stay on this scene, Skies of blue Don't remain with you. As the stranger steps in, Depression begins, Leaves of red Burning in my head, Skies of grey Will always fade away, Returning they shall To take you back to hell. Leaves of white In winter's delight, Bipolar skies With their downs and highs, The stranger within Always knows how to win. /|\

I'm not bipolar or at least haven't been diagnosed as such. :) Still, I can relate to those ups and downs of life's distorted sense of humor. Well done, I've missed you!

As always a wonderful piece of work, thanks for sharing Rick. Always a voice for those suffering from this illness, that is very admirable.

It has to be hell to be bipolar. I think your imagery is emphatic along those lines, the shifting, the changing, the roller coaster trip thru heaven and hell - and NONE of them your choosing. This is the first poem I've read on the topic of bi-polar, but I have long tried to imagine because after decades of drug use, it turned out my brother is bi-polar and has been self medicating since his teens. Your poem moved me and enlightened me. Life with this illness is quite a challenge ... CayCay

As long as we stay on our medication we are fine! But I do miss the manic episodes! Ha. Thanks for your comment, CayCay /|\

In everything there are highs and there are lows. Like the Sinatra song, "Riding high in April, shot down in May" But, there is always one high we can keep tucked away for that seemingly non-ending rainy day...you are correct, it is always inside of us. Nicely expressed mood swings Rick.

Gaining a sort of balance always comes at a cost. And some of the color gets lost... But oh, if only you can avoid that down state. This is a wonderful poem Rick, so few lines and you covered all of the rainbow, the whole spectrum.
