Double Dactyl
Light verse created by John Hollander and Antony Hecht. Two quatrains, with three dactyl lines followed by one dactyl line with a single accent. The first line-a phrase with no meaning, The second line is the subject of the poem, (usually someone's name), must be double-dactylic. One line of the second stanza must also be entirely one double dactyl word, example "va-le-dic-tor-i-an".

Bibbity Bobbity Christopher Columbus headed east, but instead went west they said. His nautical goal was circumnavigation, but North America stomped that dream dead. Hickory Dickory Marion Morrison crafted a cowboy name to fan his flame. His new handle, John Wayne instantaneously launched him as a star of western film fame. this is one of the best examples of this form I have seen. it actually makes SENSE, and I love that about it!!
