Beyond the Sun's Dominion

In fretful sleep I weightlessly drifted hours beyond the sun's cosmic dominion where I perceived the entire world shifted ten degrees off course, in my opinion I glimpsed violet glimmers of twilight while I seemed to be suspended in time Clocks ticked in synchrony during the night Whispered words were uttered in perfect rhyme High flowed the tide of moonlight's procuring as I wrestled the sheets for serenity of sleep I tossed and turned, while tiresomely enduring the unyielding baas and mehs of leaping sheep I surrendered, then tumbled from my bed with listless body. Congratulations Jenna, your poem earned a distinguished place in my contest. This was one of the hardest contest I’ve ever had to judge, the quality of the poems entered were outstanding and yours was one of them my friend, Emile.

Excellent sonnet Jenna, with the additional challenge met of lipogram constraints. You've hit upon a universal malady of a sleepless night we can all relate to. Best wishes in Emile's contest ~ John

I give this an A followed by some hhhhh's Great job Jenna. the line "the unyielding voices of countless sheep" holds a hint of political comment and an idea that would cause anyone to toss and turn.

lol John. I sincerely hope it's the only A to be found. I'm delighted that you found a hint of what you read into my lines. It's my hope that everyone who reads it will see something that they decipher in kind. Thanks so much for reading and leaving your thoughts.

This is a wonderfully written sonnet, Jenna, and written with no A's to boot. Nicely done. I have been struggling with sleep issues lately, too much stress at work. Have a great weekend. Hugs, John

Thanks for always being so encouraging, John. Lipograms are tricky, and when a change is made, it's so often inevitable that the new words(s) will contain an 'a.' So it was with these lines, and now I hope it's an "A" free Sonnet. Hugs.

Woah, stop the clocks! Sonnet is truly splendid, Jenna. The vibrancy of your night depicted is impactful. The No. One Winner.! Definitely wouldn't know it's a lipogram. Excellent stuff!
