Beyond The Reach Of Pain

If forgetting were peace, I’d let you go,
And the ache that hums beneath my chest;
But love is stronger than the winds that blow,
Memory grants no hour of rest.

Your laughter drifts where heaven meets the sky,
A song that daylight cannot quite erase;
I see your shadow in the clouds that drift by,
And feel your touch in every sunlit place.

I know one day, when time and tears are done,
When mortal breath no longer weighs me down,
I’ll find you waiting underneath the sun,
With open arms, no sorrow, no frown.

And there we’ll play beyond the reach of pain—
My child, my heart, we’ll laugh and live again
