Beyond the Pain

When we choose to live within
To avoid what hurts inside
We become the severed limb
That’s left and pushed aside…
As difficult as it may be
To sort the feelings out
You have to get beyond the pain
That’s leaving you in doubt..
If it is my cross to bear
Then I would like to choose
The manner I’m left hanging there
That tightens up my noose…
And as the feeling starts to numb
Lack of air sustains
Every reason I succumb
To what’s beyond the pain
