Beyond the Common
Take the time
to sit and think
steal
the time
push
the time
borrow
the time
make
the time
beg
the time
to work things
through to where
silky daylight ends
go beyond the sweet
supple sound of melody
be persistent and open
shed your preconceptions
tiptoe into the dark places
dive beneath the surface
into the roiling waters
of the secret soul and self
where deeper truths hide
break into and embrace
the sly heat of humanity
go further into the eye
of the quaking mind
scratch and claw
at the foggy air
and never assume
you are the first one
to have arrived
