Beyond Repair

Used and broken
Father time has spoken
Everyday wear and tear
Oh Lord, it just ain't fair

A remnant of the past
For material things don’t last
Never to be dropped again
Or left out in the rain now and then

Now lost pieces can no longer be replaced
Such a problem I never faced
On the curb, sitting in the trash
So painful, like a bad case of diaper rash

But here comes Dad, bag in hand
It’s a new car from what I understand
Shiny with mirrors and not a scratch
And it’s red like my old car, a perfect match
