Between Silence and Word

Caught up, dragged, pulled,
Between silence and word.
Now a loser, next a winner,
Now a winner, next a loser.

Beyond the shields,
Beneath the welds,
Tossing, catching, musing,
What is said, what is unsaid.

Above the prick,
Below the trick,
Trying, thinking, guessing,
What is fair, what is unfair.

Over the pride,
Across the stride,
Sliding, gliding, toiling,
What is heard, what is unheard.

From layers of strain,
To veneer of restraint,
Fighting, yielding, throwing,
What is seen, what is unseen.

Tugged, torn, ripped,
Between silence and word.
Now a winner, next a loser,
Now a loser, next a winner.

People need to be careful with their words, because they cant take them back.. and it is worse when it is either silence or harsh words... maybe it is time to walk away from such harshness.. Well written Harpreet...

Thanks for reading my poem and leaving this encouraging response. You are right about words and silence. I am also pointing to the fact that words and silence together convey a lot. It is really difficult to understand unexplained silence of dear ones. And more than that, how they try to cover that up. I would not only listen to what they say but also what they do not.
