Listen to poem:
Betrayal
Betrayal is another that can be as strong as hate
Thinking we've found a close friend we bite the bait
We don't give a second thought to the trust we're building
Not realizing betrayal is used as a weapon when fueding
The pain it gives feels like an unexpected stab to the back
When all the odds are against you and you feel your under attack
You think back to all moments you were building this trust
Your betrayer's foot to your back forcing you to lick the dust
That perplexing feeling you get as to what brought this on
You were always loyal to them and wonder what went wrong
A betrayer can never seem to face the one they betrayed
They keep a low profile until the situation starts to fade
It would remain an open wound that stripped you of your dignity
Since this happened to me I don't allow anyone close to me
You're left with this pain, a moment that would never leave
You can grant forgiveness but you would never be relieved
The saying goes, "To gain someone's trust takes a lifetime
After being betrayed it's much harder to gain mine.
