Beth and Cheryl
My friend,my dearest ally
I wait in agony for your call
To see how much you can take
And how much I can take
You are very ill, this I know
But the thought of losing you
Off of this earthly plateau
Is more than I can paint in a picture
Or write in a journal
Even sing about in a sad
Gut-wrenching song
I'm not ready
And yet I await your call
I know and you know too
That my love for you my friend
Will be with you without question
I would hold your barren head
Against my chest
Speak to you in soothing tones
Describe for you what's outside your window
We will talk of motorcycle rides
Children growing up and away
And the men we adore yet get annoyed with
We shall laugh and tell
Funny stories of the past
Even talk glowingly of the future
In the long run when hope wanes
And fear is abundant
I will send up a desperate prayer
To the heavens above
Provide comfort and show courage
For my friend you still have much life to live
We still have many memories to make
Hope and strength are what we are made of now
Still, I feel lonely
As I wait for your call
