Best Friends Cause Broken Hearts Too

I told you that I wanted to be part of your life Just your best friend not your wife. I wanted to bring you happiness in ways no one could To bring meaning to your desires like a best friend should. To comfort you when you are lonely and down Bring a smile to your face when I see you frown Listen to your worries, give you hope for a day Oh, best friend, why did you run away? I thought there was a chance I could be happy too Knowing there was someone in my life like you. You made my world a perfect place to be Gave me hope when I couldn’t face reality. Telling you everything without a second thought Trusting you completely with everything I’ve got. Oh, best friend, why did you leave? Now I remember...reality verses fantasy. My dreams, I will still make come true It would just be better to share them with you. You gave me access to a world so secure Without you in my life, now I’m not so sure. My sight is blurred by water filled eyes Oh, best friend, I hate good-byes. I wish you luck in all that you do Just remember, “I love you”! Protect your heart...don’t give it away Keep your thoughts to yourself no matter the emotional price you will pay I can honestly say It’s better not to love than to feel this pain every day.
