Best Friend

Darkness falls,
the shadows lengthen,
My mind wanders,
what form will it take?
Will Hyde appear or maybe
Jackie slashie?
Like a worm in my brain the
madness spreads
through my head twists and turns.
in the night Beware for I lurk
and lurch for a young pretty coming my way.

I watch the man lose to the madness, the sadness in my chest as he rages.
Nothing can be done for he forgot the sun and now only the dark dwells in him.

What am I?
A man?
A monster?
I am what I am,
I cannot change,
But I have,
True freedom lies beyond the gates of my mind
Death will be the key I say

It has ended, the fight is done. My friend has lost his marbles.
His blood lust is strong but what I am about to do is not wrong.
Like a rabid dog must he be put down?

Is that my friend standing there?
Where is his smile?
I have news,
Get rid of the blues,
For death is the only true freedom,
Come here brother so that I may share.

With a click the pistol was cocked as I waited for my friend to embrace me.
